Chickadee

The two clocks tick in syncopated rhythm.

Lamp light intensifies the red of the poinsettias.

Coloured lights in the rubber tree

glow like stained glass lollipops.

The Christmas village with its church is lit from within.

Everything is ready.

Outside the window all is cold and grey

still and waiting;

except for the chickadee

(foraging at the feeder)

lit from within.
