Getting Old?

Sometimes we go to a restaurant

and the waitress asks , “What can I get you to drink dear?”

Then turns to my husband, “and you dear?”

“How does it feel being called a dear” I inquire.

He responds, “I’ve been called worse things,”

which wasn’t the answer I was looking for.

I think next time I will order a double scotch straight up,

“Thank you sweetie.”

Once a man asked me if I needed help

carrying out my bag of groceries.

He wasn’t so young himself.

“No thank you,” I said politely

I should have said,

“Hey I work out, want to arm wrestle.”

Sometimes we go for a walk,

not as fast as we used to,

and passersby smile condescendingly

as if to say, “how cute!”

Cute we are.

Cute as Pekingese

Cute as a couple of two year olds.

Not Yet!
